Beckhoff T3 Case Study

T3 System for Beckhoff

Beckhoff Stands out from the Crowd with Exhibition Stand from SD Displays

Anyone who has ever attempted to put together an exhibition stand at a show will tell you that’s not always a joyful and carefree experience. Exhibitors often find themselves racing against the clock, fighting to cobble together a professional looking stand from an array of components that don’t seem to fit together in a logical manner.

Beckhoff, providers of intelligent building automation solutions, exhibit at leading trade shows the length and breadth of the country, including the Smart Buildings Show and LuxLive.

The PC based control specialists found themselves increasingly frustrated by the time and resources being used during the stand building process and began to research alternative stand systems that would simplify the process and provide them with a flexible system that could be easily adjusted and reconfigured to fit the space.
"“The T3 kit has paid for itself twice over in just the first year of use and we find ourselves looking for more events to attend as exhibitors.”
After speaking to SD Displays, the team at Beckhoff decided on a T3 modular display system in order to build a 5x2m cabin structure on a 9x6m floorspace
for the LuxLive 2017 exhibition. The design by David Cooper at SD Displays incorporated a 1.5m illuminated protruding top section which created an amazing presence throughout the ExCeL exhibition hall, visible from any angle.

“Normally, for an exhibition of this size, we would have used our German exhibition team to come over and build the stand for us, but we felt this didn’t offer the flexibility of design that we required. In addition, the initial cost of purchasing the T3 system was roughly the same as the one-off cost of using our German team, so all subsequent uses would come at a minimal cost.”

- Karl Walker, Market Development Manager for Beckhoff

Beckhoff have wasted no time in putting their new system to the test, successfully deploying the T3 at record speed and attracting visitors to their visually striking stand. The versatile system is already proving its worth, saving the company on shipping costs and man-hours as well as taking the stress out of stand building.

“We have used the T3 system five times in just the first twelve months, something that we would have never done before. The system allows us to keep a common corporate look and feel to our exhibitions and allows us to participate in shows at very short notice. Previously, we would have used a shell scheme, roller banners and pop-up graphics which tends to look amateurish, but the T3 system gives us enormous presence and visual identity wherever we go and we get many comments and praise from other exhibitors and visitors alike asking us who builds our stands!”

"The system allows us to keep a common corporate look and feel to our exhibitions and allows us to participate in shows at very short notice.
The modular display system uses a simple twist and lock action and doesn’t require tools or skilled labour to construct. On top of this, the T3 system can be pre-built and adjusted without extensive redesign and is extremely compact, making it easy to store.

Beckhoff have now purchased a small amount of additional T3 framework and, where needed, new graphics panels, but these costs are minimal compared to paying for a new design to be constructed each time. Based on the floorspace and position, David Cooper provides 3D images of the proposed design, including such things as furniture and demo displays so that the Beckhoff team can instantly visualise how the finished product will look.

Karl Walker concludes: “The T3 kit has paid for itself twice over in just the first year of use and we find ourselves looking for more events to attend as exhibitors, knowing that we can easily deliver a professional stand with great presence that stands out in any exhibition hall.”
